Lisa Kearns, co-owner of S&K Handyma'am Services, on a job site

Meet Lisa

Lisa is a Santa Rosa native and co-owner of S&K Handyma'am Services.

Her path into construction was not a traditional one. After graduating from college, Lisa served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana, West Africa, and later worked in international development, managing projects in countries around the world before returning home to Sonoma County.

As a homeowner, she developed a love for building, repairing, and improving the spaces around her. What began with projects in her own home gradually grew into a broader interest in construction and hands-on problem-solving. Much of what she knows was learned by doing, taking on new challenges, and continuing to build her skills over time.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, staying active, and usually has another project underway at home.

SJ Stoelting with the S&K Handyma'am Services work van

Meet SJ

SJ grew up in Northern California and has proudly called Santa Rosa home for more than 15 years.

Her passion for working with her hands began at a young age, inspired by her mom's ambitious DIY home projects, from moving walls to installing light fixtures. Those experiences sparked a lifelong love of building, fixing, and finding practical solutions to everyday problems.

Prior to starting her business SJ did a variety of things including working for Sonoma County Regional Parks, milking goats on a farm in Sebastopol, and managing repairs and maintenance at an apartment complex in Santa Rosa.

When she's not working, SJ enjoys cooking for friends and family, playing pinball, tackling projects around her own home, and spending time camping with her wife and their two dogs.
